Recife – The State Agency for the Environment and Water Resources (CPRH) has provided Grupo Paulista Vibrapar a license to install a refinery in the Pernambuco state Suape Port and Industrial Complex, the second refinery in the Northeast. The first has been operating in Bahia. The initiative will make the generation of 600 direct jobs and 900 indirect jobs possible.
The idea is for operation to begin in the first half of next year, with the production of gasoline, diesel oil, naphtha, and kitchen gas. Initially, the unit will produce 6,000 barrels of oil per day and should reach its 60,000-barrel capacity within four years.
CPRH president Tito Lívio Barros has stated that the refinery is going to attract other companies that process naphtha, gasoline, and diesel oil to the state of Pernambuco, as the state will start offering facilities as an energy provider.
