São Paulo – Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras has started a tender for the sale of reserves of 300 million tonnes of potassium chloride in the Amazon. Potassium chloride is used as a raw material in the fertilizer industry. Today, only Brazilian mining giant Companhia Vale do Rio Doce produces potassium chloride in Brazil, at a vein purchased from Petrobras in the region of Aracaju, in the northeastern Brazilian state of Sergipe.
