Brasília – Family farmers from Brazil are featured in the 28th Biofach, the world’s biggest organic products expo, running from this Wednesday (15) to the 18th in Germany. The event is intended to broaden growers’ access to markets and encourage deal-making.
This year, six smallholder farmers are at the event, according to the Special Secretariat for Family Farming and Agrarian Development. The Brazilian farmers will showcase the items that sell the most in Germany, including honey, grains, coffee, rice, cachaça and Brazil nut. They will also be offering cocoa butter.
In Brazil, organic farming spans over 750,000 hectares, and some 70% of growers are smallholders, according to the National Register of Organic Growers.
