Brazilian papaya seeks international renown
Caliman farm, the owner of the largest papaya plantation in the country, wants the foreign market to stop considering the fruit exotic and to consume it frequently, as is the case with mango and pineapple. The company, which invests 500,000 Brazilian reais (US$ 250,000) per year in research and technology, was the first Brazilian organisation to develop hybrid papaya seeds.
