São Paulo – Brazilian petrochemical company Ipiranga Petroquímica is going to produce PE-100, high density polyethylene whose main characteristic is its resistance to high pressure, in Brazil. Ipiranga will be the first company in Latin American to produce the material.
Research began in 2001 and was completed last March. Up to the moment, PE-100 used in Brazil was imported. In the country, the polymer is used to make pressure cylinders for natural gas and in mining, water and sewage networks, underwater pipelines and water mains.
