São Paulo – Brazilian poultry production amounted to 13.146 million tons last year, a 3.58% increase over 2014. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), the performance in 2015 cements the country’s position as the world’s second leading producer, trailing only the United States and ahead of China, whose output was 13.025 million tons.
In a press release, ABPA vice president for Poultry Ricardo Santin claimed that despite the economic crisis of 2015, the poultry production and exportation chain had a good year. “Domestically, we kept trade levels strong with an adequate demand, and at the same time export levels hit an all-time high,” he said. In 2015, the country exported 4.3 million tons.
