São Paulo – Brazilian poultry is advertised in a campaign in the streets of Doha, the capital city of Qatar, the host country of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the campaign takes place amidst the celebrations of the competition and was implemented in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
There are 30 panels spread across the city’s busiest avenues, conveying messages in Arabic and English to local consumers and foreigners traveling through Doha. “Brazil Halal poultry: Bringing flavor and sustainability to over 150 countries. Try it here in Qatar!” is written on the signs. The panels will be on display until the end of December.
“The World Cup is a unique opportunity to strengthen our image. For our sector, it is even more unique, given our link between the Brazilian image and football and that we are the leading protein supplier for this market. In this Cup, Brazil must score goals far beyond the stadiums, reinforcing its position as a partner for food security in Islamic nations,” emphasized the president of the ABPA, Ricardo Santin, in a press release.
According to the ABPA, the signs seek to reinforce the Brazilian presence as the leading supplier of poultry protein, both for the Qatari and all Islamic global markets. Brazil is the world’s biggest exporter of halal poultry and supplies about 70% of what Qatar consumes of the product. From January to October this year, the Arab country imported 90,600 tonnes of Brazilian poultry, which yielded over USD 177.9 million in export revenues.
