Rio de Janeiro – A declaration (Carta Manifesto) by 45 organizations in the Brazilian scientific community has come out in support of negotiations by the government to make the International Monetary Fund more flexible when calculating the primary surplus.
The document calls for considering public spending on science and technology public investments and not expenditures. According to minister of Science and Technology, Eduardo Campos, by the end of the month the government will announce a program to facilitate the release of imports, a longtime grievance of the scientific community.
