Brasília – With the dollar appreciation and lower income, the amount spent by Brazilians in international trips dropped 43.4% in February, in the comparison with the same month in 2015. The data was released this Wednesday (23) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC). Last month, abroad spending reached USD 841 million, against USD 1.49 billion registered in the same month of last year. According to the BC, it’s the lowest result in seven years.
If, on one hand, Brazilian spending abroad declined, revenues generated by foreigners in Brazil increased 14.9% in the same period. Revenues from foreigners in the country totaled USD 599 million last month, against USD 521 million in February of 2015. The deficit of the traveling balance then stood at USD 242 million.
