São Paulo – Qatar University is accepting enrolments for an Arabic course. Non-Qatari citizens living in other countries are eligible for full grants. Registrations are open until March 16.
The one-year-long Arabic language program of the Qatar University begins in September. A limited number of grants is available. Shortlisted students will enjoy a number of benefits, including a student visa and residency permit, exemption from the course’s costs and book charges, two-way flight tickets, lodging in double bedrooms, three meals a day, and the right to use the university’s student accommodation facilities.
Applicants must state their interest in the grant when filling in the course application form. The requirements to become a student at the Qatar University include being aged 18 to 40; having a high school degree (and preferably a college diploma); basic knowledge of classical Arabic, including at least good command of the alphabet; the ability to communicate in English or Arabic with the university’s administration, and not having been awarded a grant for Arabic studies at Qatar University.
Without a grant, the course costs USD 365 per credit/hour, and students are required to complete a minimum of 11 credits/hour each semester.
Accommodation prices also vary. In-campus rent is USD 219 a month in a double bedroom, including meals and bus trips around the campus. In Doha, a month’s rent averages at USD 2,000.
