São Paulo – Imply, a company that manufactures and exports computing and entertainment systems, such as electronic panels and games, is making strides toward expanding its operations in the Arab countries. The company, which has a factory in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, already exports to the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Iraq, and is putting together a large entertainment centre in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
“We are assembling the largest entertainment centre in Africa, which will be located in Algiers, at the Bab Evezzouar, a shopping centre that will be inaugurated in the beginning of the second half,” says the company’s chairman, Tironi Ortiz. According to him, there will be 18 bowling lanes and a large space destined for games. In addition to providing all of the equipment, the company is going to send a group of five technicians to install the systems and provide training to the Algerians, who will be in charge of future maintenance.
Initial contacts with the region were made by means of a distributor based in Dubai, in the Emirates, who became the brand’s representative. “He found our site, enjoyed our products and placed the first orders,” says Ortiz.
The website’s success and the company’s promising deals in the Middle East and North Africa have already led to plans of creating an Arabic version of the site. “We are betting heavily on our partnership with the Arab market. Information in Arabic will be an additional tool to help us establish closer ties,” explains the president.
Next week, Imply will showcase its products at the Warehouse of Games, a trade fair for the sector due April 25 to 27 at the World Trade Center, in Dubai. “Our distributor will have a stand at the fair, and we are optimistic about the perspective of new businesses,” explains the chairman.
According to Ortiz, the company, which will turn seven years old in May, has had an exporting vocation from the start. “We began exporting in our first year,” he says. Presently, aside from the Arab countries, Imply exports to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ukraine, Mozambique, Australia, the United States, Russia, Hong Kong, India, and is now making contacts in Iran.
Success in both the domestic and foreign markets has led the company – which generates 120 direct jobs – to build a new technological park that will cover an area of 180,000 square metres, with a built area of 8,000 square metres.
Operations
Imply has two business units: information and entertainment. The entertainment unit includes games and bowling, and enjoys sales success in Brazil and abroad. Highlights of the information division are electronic messaging panels, self-service terminals for consultation and issuance of duplicates, and line management systems. “We have developed a software that monitors the time in which people stay in line, and which also records how many of them have given up waiting,” he claims.
The company develops electronic panels and systems for controlling access at football stadiums. A software program designed for stadiums controls ticket sales, including advance sales on the Internet. Electronic voting panels are another product developed by Imply. The systems have already been installed at legislative assemblies and city councils, for instance.
