São Paulo – Claudio Inove, from Brazil, will give a course in micropigmentation, a semi-permanent makeup technique, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, next August. The classes will be taught at the Ibis Hotel at the World Trade Centre, and will be targeted at Brazilian men and women living in the country. Inove is well known in the aesthetics industry for the line of work he has developed in so-called naturalistic visagism. “It means re-establishing the tones and lines that the person would naturally have,” he explains.
Micropigmentation is a semi-permanent makeup technique made in the face, in areas where the eyebrows have ceased to grow, or even in the head, to disguise scars and missing hair, or in the breasts, to hide incision marks. It is made either for aesthetical reasons or in post-surgical procedures. What sets Inove apart from the rest in his field is that instead of transforming the features, he tries to leave them as natural as possible.
Inove is licensed to work with micropigmentation in Dubai, but only for foreign people. In other aesthetical procedures, he is licensed to service locals as well. The course he will teach aims to train women – and men – to work for female customers. However, each will need to pursue their own licenses first, by meeting all of the local requirements.
In addition to micropigmentation, he will teach eyelash prolongation, design, and colouring, and Egyptian epilation. The course, which Inove calls a marathon, will have a second edition in December, at another Ibis Hotel unit. For that, he wants to bring in Brazilian professionals and thus enable them to learn to do makeups for the local feature types, which range from Turks to Filipinos. The course due in August will last 7 days and costs 3,400 dirham (US$ 925.65 at current exchange rates), with 30 students divided into two groups. Classes start on August 24.
Inove was born in the state of Ceará and moved to São Paulo in his teens. There, he established his Aesthetical Centre, which operated from 2006 to 2009, took a technical course in Aesthetics at Centro Educacional Etip, and earned a degree in Aesthetical Cosmetology from the Anhembi Morumbi University. He went to Dubai after meeting the Brazilian physician Luiz Toledo, who performs plastic surgeries in the emirate and invited him to work in post-surgical procedures. Toledo owns a clinic in the Emirates.
Inove moved to Dubai in 2010 and started working both with Toledo and at Spa Viva, in Abu Dhabi, where he did everything from skin cleansing to massages. In post-surgery, he does mainly lymphatic drainages and electrotherapy to improve patient recovery. Inove returned to Brazil five months ago, and will go back to Dubai in August.
In the next few months, Inove will switch back and forth between the Emirates and Brazil. In Brazil he teaches classes, gives talks and serves customers. Although he likes Dubai and considers it his current home, he will travel back and forth because of the work opportunities here. The fact that he cannot work for native women in the Emirates really restricts his field of action there, he says.
