São Paulo – Brazilian families of Lebanese descent provided donations of food, cleaning supplies, and toys to an orphanage in Lebanon, in an effort organized by the Brazil Friendship Group in the Middle East, an association created by Brazilian women living in the Arab country.
The donations were delivered by representatives of the group on Tuesday (18) in the city of Ashqout, where the Lien de Charité is located. The orphanage has existed since 1975 and assists orphaned children until their legal age of majority. Currently, 19 children live in the establishment and received donations from Brazilians.
The initiative was part of the “Happy Child” project, carried out by the Brazil Friendship Group in the Middle East to give assistance and continuous support to children in need from Lebanese institutions, according to information from the group’s vice president, social worker Lívia Tawil.
The Brazil Friendship Group in the Middle East operates as an association registered in the Arab country and runs with the support of Brazilian organizations in Lebanon. The main goal is to keep the Brazilian tradition and customs alive among the Brazilian community that lives in Lebanon and to help Lebanese society through philanthropic works.
