Brasília – Brazilian consumers are expecting 9.1% inflation in the next 12 months, as per a survey carried out in December by think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). This is the second straight month with a statistically flat result, since the November forecast had been 9.2%. In December of last year, the forecast had been 11%.
The inflation forecast increased only in the BRL 2,100 to BRL 4,800 income bracket (USD 1,434), from 9.3% to 9.8%. Expected inflation went down in the three other brackets: less than BRL 2,800 (USD 836), from BRL 4,800 to BRL 9,600 (USD 1,434 to USD 2,869) and higher than BRL 9,600.
