São Paulo – Two Brazilian companies, WMR Brasil and M.Moschini, are going to join forces with a company from the United Arab Emirates, AST Group, to establish a joint venture to operate in foreign trade.
WMR is a brokerage and M.Moschini a trade representative, and they plan to establish, by the end of the year, a company headquartered in Dubai, in partnership with AST Group, which belongs to businessman Ali Al Taher. The three organisations are already working together, according to one of the partners at WMR, Marco Antônio Antonacci.
According to Antonacci, a memorandum has already been signed considering the partnership and the new company should be headquartered where AST currently operates, at Sheikh Zayed Road, in Dubai. The joint venture should operate in the export of South American products to the emirate. They should not, however, stay in Dubai alone. "From Dubai, an enormous market may be reached," said Antonacci.
The three companies have already promoted joint activities, involving taking companies and organisations from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina to business meetings with buyers from Dubai between the 13th and 18th of this month. The companies participating were the Brazilian Pirahy Alimentos, the owner of rice brand Prato Fino, Sabory ice creams and Sagres Agência Marítima, as well as Rodrigo Gonzales, a live cattle broker from Uruguay, the Pelotas Continental Product Bourse and Arbras, a company that represents products from the Argentine province of Córdoba.
AST Group, according to Antonacci, represents Brazilian brand Pelé for real-estate projects. The first contacts with the company from Dubai were made during the International Rice Exhibition (Expoarroz), which took place in May, in Pelotas, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The idea, initially, is for them to take to the emirate delegations of businessmen and promote negotiations like those in forums. Businessmen from the Emirates interested in Brazilian products, however, may seek them at AST.
According to Antonacci, a new trip is already being planned to take businessmen from South America to Dubai in October. The partner in the Emirates, in this case, is in charge of finding Arab importers for the meetings. Post sales, however, and the closing of deals after meetings, are in charge of the three partners. The partner at WMR said that, in the last trip, he tried to take the owners of companies to do business, as this personal contact, to the Arabs, is very important.
WMR has offices in Porto Alegre and is a broker at the Pelotas Continental Product Bourse, which was established to operate in the sale of commodities, mainly rice, but is now in several sectors. Apart from Antonacci, who graduated in Business Administration and Foreign Trade, the WMR partners are Rafael Grantham, business administrator Melchior Spessatto, and doctor Everton Faria. The four of them work at the organisation. M.Moschini, from the city of Salto, in the interior of São Paulo, is headed by Malize Moschini.
