São Paulo – Brazil’s exports to Libya rose 4.7% between January and July this year compared to the same period in 2024. According to data from the Brazil’s Development and Trade Ministry, compiled by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), exports totaled USD 421.9 million through July. On the other hand, Brazil’s imports of Libyan products reached USD 793,000 in the same period.
Iron ore was Brazil’s top export to Libya through July, totaling USD 146.8 million, a 10% decrease compared to January–July 2024. The second-largest export, poultry meat, fell 5.5%, totaling USD 103.7 million. Exports of beef increased by 74.9%, reaching USD 76 million. Sugar, the fourth-largest export to Libya, rose 15.1% in sales to the country, totaling USD 68.8 million.
In the opposite direction, Brazil imported mainly aluminum scrap from Libya, a product that the Brazilian market had not purchased from the North African country until July of last year. The total exported to Libya this year already surpasses annual export levels from 2014 to 2022.
