Rio de Janeiro – The Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the value of all products and services produced by the country, ended 2017 with a 1% growth rate in comparison to 2016. It reached BRL 6.6 trillion (USD 2.08 trillion) last year. In 2015 and 2016, the economy’s growth rate was negative at -3.5%,
The data was released this Wednesday (1) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In 2017, contributed to the result the increases of 13% in the agricultural sector, and of 0.3% in services, plus industry stability. The agricultural sector’s result was the best since the beginning of the series, in 1996.
In the seasonally-adjusted series, the result of the year’s last quarter was a growth of 0.1% over the previous quarter. In comparison to 2016’s Q4, the growth was of 2.1%.
