Brasília – Strengthening economic relations with the Middle East and the rest of Asia is key for increasing exports from Brazil and attracting direct investments to the country, Brazil’s Economy minister Paulo Guedes said on Thursday (30) in the ceremony for the presentation of Brazil Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brasília.
“We are now connecting with could be major hub not only for our exports to the rest of the world but for us to receive investments. The Middle East is an increasingly sophisticated financial hub,” Guedes said during the event.
According to Guedes, Brazil has “a bright future ahead of us” if it is able to supply the rest of the world with agricultural products while conservating natural resources. He believes the country is a green powerhouse and can excel on this topic.
“We are a mass consumption country, immersed in the digital age. A green powerhouse with a bright future ahead of us. May this be a first step towards these fast-growing regions [Middle East and Asia],” he stressed.
Postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai had its opening ceremony on Thursday night, and the opening of Brazil pavilion is set for Friday (1) featuring Brazil’s vice president Hamilton Mourão.
