Brasília – Brazil’s national debt reached BRL 3.754 trillion (USD 996.6 billion at today’s exchange rate) in June, up 1.01% from May, the Brazilian National Treasury reported this Wednesday (25).
Internal security and bond debt, payable in Brazilian currency, widened by 0.94% to BRL 3.607 trillion (USD 957.5 billion). External debt climbed 2.67% to BRL 146.79 billion (USD 38.07 billion).
Despite the hike in June, national debt remains lower than the Treasury’s forecasts. As per its Annual Financing Plan released in late January, debt is expected to end the year at between BRL 3.78 trillion and BRL 3.98 trillion (USD 1 trillion-USD 1.05 trillion).
