Brasília – The Industrial Businessman Confidence Index (Icei) was down 0.4 point in October from September. The index stood at 53.8 points, below the historical average of 58.5 points, according to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). The decline took place following two consecutive monthly increments. October-on-October, the score was down 2.4 points. The Icei ranges from 0 to 100, and scores above 50 show confident businessmen.
To the CNI, “frequent oscillations in Icei confirm the low rhythm of growth of industrial activity”. The confidence only improved in the building industry. In the sector, the Icei has risen for the third month running, reaching 54.8 points. In the mining industry, the Icei dropped 57.7 points in September, to 54.2 points in October. In the transformation industry, the index dropped from 53.6 points to 52.9 points. The expectation index for the coming six months was practically stable, at 58 points, with a reduction of 0.2 point.
