Brasília – After being bullish for two months, the confidence of Brazilian industrial businessmen dropped. The index was released this Wednesday (17th) by the National Federation of Industry (CNI).
The Industrial Businessman Confidence Index was down 1.2 point from September, at 56.2 points. The indicator ranges from 0 to 100 and figures higher than 50 indicate confidence businessmen.
“The decline in confidence seen in October is the result of a worsening of businessmen’s perceptions of both current conditions and expectations for the next six months,” says the CNI.
The indicator of current conditions of companies and the economy compared with the last six months dropped from 49.3 points to 48.2 points. The indicator of expectations for the coming six months went from 61.5 points to 60.2 points.
The index was calculated based on a survey of 2,246 companies, of which 801 were small, 883 were medium and 562 were large. The interviews were conducted from October 1st to 11th, 2012.
