Dubai – The president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Osmar Chohfi, was in Oman this Thursday (11) and visited the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). He was received by the Arab institution’s president, Redha Juma Al-Saleh, and the director of the International Relations department, Haritha Al-Busaidi. The newly arrived ambassador of Brazil to Oman, Ligia Maria Scherer, also participated in the meeting.
Chohfi invited those present to participate in the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, to take place in July next year in Brazil. The president of the OCCI said they could send a mission to São Paulo at the time and made other plans to strengthen the Brazil-Oman relationship, such as a visit to the Brazil pavilion at Expo 2020. The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ABCC and OCCI and creating a Brazil-Oman Economic Forum were also part of the meeting’s program.
Rashid Al Musahi, director of the AlHathaifa LLC group and board member of the OCCI; Rafael Solimeo, head of the ABCC’s international office in Dubai; and Shaheen Ali Shaheen, advisor for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq, and Yemen of the Brazilian institution; also participated in the meeting.
Chohfi, Solimeo, and Shaheen also met with Oman’s undersecretary for Trade and Investment, Hasila Al-Samsamia (pictured above, with Chohfi). She said it is time to further strengthen the trade balance on the Arab side in Brazil and stated Oman is a country of peace, which facilitates business. They discussed the possibility of doing a roadshow with an Omanite delegation across Brazil, among other issues.
