Brasília – The 2010-2011 sugarcane crop should be 7.8% greater than in the previous season, totalling 651.51 million tonnes, according to a survey disclosed today (2nd) by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture. In 2009-2010, 604.5 million tonnes were processed.
As a result, the government is expecting prices to remain more stable this year than in 2009. Besides, there will be no shortage of ethanol to consumers, according to the secretary of Production and Agroenergy secretary of the ministry, Manoel Bertone.
The estimate is part of the second cane crop survey and is ascribed to the entry into operation of new plants in the Mid-South.
