São Paulo – Sugarcane processing plants in the Brazilian Mid-South milled 599.87 million tons of sugarcane in the 2015/2016 crop until February 1st, the Sugarcane Industry Association (Unica) reported. The volume is up 5.22% from the comparable year-ago period.
By the second half of January, 3.93 million tons had been processed in 39 facilities across the Mid-South. Of those, 27.52% were used in sugar manufacturing. The remainder went to ethanol production. Sugar output stood at 97,030 tons, with ethanol production at 168.05 million liters.
