São Paulo – The volume of new automobiles sold in Brazil in June was up 1.2% from May. A total of 257,500 cars were sold last month. Since the year began, 1.4 million autos were sold, up 8.6% from the same period in 2012. The figures were released this Thursday (4th) by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
Automobile production was down 7.8% in June from May. Last month, 320,800 units were made in the country. Since January, 1.86 million units were made in Brazil. In the 12-month period ended June, 6.67 million units were made, up 12.1% from the preceding period.
Imported vehicle sales in the country were down 1.2% in June from May. The total amount of light passenger vehicles sold was 60,800. Since the year began. 361,700 imported autos were sold in Brazil.
