IT has developed ARABtoBRASIL, a kind of personalized travel package that takes into consideration the characteristics of each one of the Arab countries. The programs are for Brazilians who visit the countries in the Middle East and North Africa on business, and for Arabs visiting Brazil. IT, which is based in the city of Barueri, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, is an official operator for Reed Exhibitions and Messe Frankfurt, two of the largest event organizers in the world.

Abimo, an organization that represents the sector, took 40 Brazilian companies to Arab Health, a fair that took place in Dubai last week. Participation should generate deals of US$ 11.2 million in the next 12 months. In May, a delegation of companies is travelling on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia, where they will participate in business meetings with Arab importers and in the Saudi Health Care fair.

The group participated in meetings with around 100 Arab businessmen last week. The trade mission was part of the schedule of the tour taken by the Brazilian minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Amorim, to ten countries in the region. Amorim ended the tour on Saturday, after meeting Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who confirmed his participation in the Arab-South American Summit, scheduled for May.

The activities of the delegation that travelled to the Middle East to promote trade relations between Brazil and the region began today. After participating in the business roundtables in São Paulo, the delegation left for the city of Foz do Iguaçu yesterday, where they met with representatives of the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (Fiep). Today the group is going to visit the waterfalls.

The document was signed yesterday by the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Sarkis Jr., and by Thabet Taher, secretary general of the federation, which represents sector associations in 11 Arab countries. According to the text, the two parties committed to exchange economics information, to advise businessmen interested in bilateral trade, to promote investment opportunities, and to promote tourism, among other actions.

The idea was launched yesterday during the visit of participants of the mission from five Arab countries to the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp). The vice president of the organisation, Elias Miguel Haddad, committed himself to taking the proposal to the remaining members of the board of directors and associates. The Arab businessmen believe this is a way to strengthen bilateral trade. They want the trade show to take place next year.

Oudeh Aklouk, the director of Aklouk Cousins Co., is mainly interested in auto parts. He is one of the members of the Arab trade mission that is in São Paulo, the largest business centre in Brazil, and participated in business roundtables promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Brazilian and Arab businessmen left the event optimistic about the opportunities that arose at the event, which ended yesterday.

The Hayel Saeed Anam group, which acts in many fields and is present in 38 countries, is looking for opportunities in the agribusiness and real estate sectors. The director of the industrial division of the company, Abdul Gabbar Hayel Saeed, is in São Paulo participating in the business roundtables organised by the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
