This forecast was made yesterday by the president of the Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (Abrava), Carlos Trombini, during the signing of an agreement for foreign trade incentives signed with the Apex. The Arab countries and Latin America are the two main targets of the project, which may generate 850 new jobs.

The project, to have investment of an estimated US$ 1.3 million for the promotion of export of sector products and services, will be signed today by the presidents of the Brazilian Export Promotion Agency (Apex), Juan Quirós, and of the Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (Abrava), Eduardo Trombini. The organization is planning trade missions to the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.

The producer of sanitary metals, based in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, already exports to over 20 countries in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe, and has even done business with Algeria. The company started investing more intensely in foreign trade four years ago, and currently 18% of company revenues come from international sales.

Representatives of 15 companies and members of the Algerian government should be arriving in São Paulo, capital of the Brazilian southeastern state by the same name, on August 26. According to the Algerian ambassador in Brazil, Lahcène Moussaoui, this is the largest trade initiative ever made by Algeria in Brazil. "I see the possibility of business in all sectors," he stated. He believes that Brazilian export to his country can rise to around US$ 500 million in future.

Representatives of various companies visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce stand to learn more about the Arab market and about the mission of Arab businessmen to visit São Paulo, the most industrial city in Brazil, next week. The Economic Development secretary of the São Paulo state government, João Carlos Meirelles, stated that expectations for greater trade between Brazil and the Arabs are "extraordinary."

Business between Comil, a bus maker from the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, and the Arabs has generated 200 new jobs. While producing the 273 buses recently purchased by Saudi company Taseco, the company awaits the result of tenders in Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. On Tuesday, Comil was visited by Taseco general manager Kareem Al-Saihati, who came to Brazil to visit the factory and evaluate the prototypes of buses adapted for the Middle East.

Around 30 Algerian businessmen and government representatives will spend five days in the country. They are interested in buying from meats to construction material. Brazilian companies interested in participating in the business roundtables should get in contact with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce or the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
