Cooperation agreements will be launched during the 1st Brazil-European Union Summit, to take place in Lisbon. The document, elaborated by European authorities, points out the importance of conclusion of EU-Mercosur association agreements, the strengthening of multilateralism, cooperation to face global challenges and regional integration, among others.

Three technicians from the Ministry of Health of Lebanon are in Brazil to be trained by Brazilian professionals. They arrived on Monday and are going to stay in Brazilian capital Brasília until tomorrow. The training is part of an agreement for aid to Lebanon that the government of Brazil signed last year.

The Brazilian Savings Bank (Caixa Econômica Federal) is developing a project for cooperation with the Arab country in the field of construction. The bank is negotiating the transfer of Brazilian know-how in the use of waste for housing and road construction. The Caixa has an engineering division concerned with lowering costs of the projects it funds.

During the Junior 8 Summit, to be held in the sidelines of the G8, in Germany, adolescents from many different countries are going to discuss proposals and solutions to the problems that affect and violate the rights of children and adolescents throughout the world. The Brazilian Fernanda Winter is going to participate, along with youths of other developing countries, such as Algeria, Cameroon, China, Ethiopia and India.

This was one of the conclusions made yesterday by former Arab Brazilian Chamber president Paulo Atallah, during a seminar in Rabat, Morocco. The business more than doubled in four years, but still represent little in the trade of the Arab world. Today Arab and South American ministers in the economic area meet in the capital of Morocco, among them the Brazilian Miguel Jorge.

In the sidelines of a meeting between Arab and South American ministers, to take place this week in Morocco, the former vice president at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Paulo Atallah, will give a talk and present proposals for joint activities between South American countries to expand business with the Middle East and North Africa. The delegation from Brazil will be headed by the minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Miguel Jorge.

The Arab ambassadors to Brazil are going, starting today, to visit the city of Curitiba, capital of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná. They will meet local leaders, like state governor Roberto Requião and city mayor Carlos Alberto Richa, and also businessmen at the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná. The diplomats will stay in the city until Saturday to expand the relations of their countries with the state.

The information was supplied by Beto Richa, mayor of the capital of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, who, on Thursday, received 11 Arab diplomats who are visiting the city. The ambassadors also met the presidents of the Legislative Assembly and of the Court of Justice. On Friday, they meet businessmen at the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná.

The secretary general at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, gave a talk about the economic bloc at the 39th Congress of Arab Chambers of Commerce, in Abu Dhabi. The participants wanted to know more about the legal model of the common market and about privatisations in Brazil, to forward suggestions to their local governments.

Ministries of Social Development in Arab and South American countries are going to create professional groups turned to cooperation between the two regions in the social field. This was one of the decisions made during a meeting of ministers in the area, which ended yesterday in Cairo.
