The complex in Osório, city in the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, will be the second largest in the world. The Brazilian Development Bank will loan US$ 206 million to finance the undertaking, which should start its operations in the second semester of 2006. The credit is part of the Financial Support Programme for Alternative Energy Sources (Proinfa) of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The project E-Blocks, by the company Positivo Informática, won the World Summit Award (WSA) in the category e-Learning. This places the pedagogical system, developed to teach English to children between 5 and 10 years old, amongst the 40 best multimedia works in the world. The prize giving will take place during the World Summit for the Information Society, in November in Tunisia.

With little over two years of existence, 14bits has already managed to reach worldwide prominence. In August the company received a request for a price estimate for the development of a shopping centre website in the Arab country. In June, the studio was considered one of the 90 most important interactive studios in the world by publishing house Taschen.

The game should be available in the beginning of next year. It was developed by the Scientists Associated Technological Development, created in the Incubator Centre for Technology Companies of São Carlos, city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The company is formed by young researchers, most of them in their 30s.

Solution developed by the Brazilian chemical engineer Marcos Gugliotti is in the final testing phase. Next month, the engineer will make experiments in the reflecting pools at the National Congress and the head offices of the Superior Court of Justice in the Brazilian capital city, Brasilia. The aim is for the product to reduce water evaporation by up to 30%.
