Rio de Janeiro – Cattle and poultry slaughter numbers declined year-on-year in quarter two this year, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported this Thursday (14). Q2 saw 7.42 million head of cattle slaughtered in Brazil, 3.1% less than in Q2 2016. Year-on-year in Q2, however, the number’s up 0.3%.
Poultry slaughter reached 1.43 billion, down 4% quarter-on-quarter and 4.5% year-on-year.
Chicken egg production came out to 816.1 million dozens, up 3.3% quarter-on-quarter and 7.3% year-on-year.
