Brasília – The Central Bank of Brazil had profit of R$ 23.5 billion (US$ 13.8 billion) in 2011. The result was disclosed on Wednesday (29) by the National Monetary Council (CMN), which approved the institution’s budget for last year.
In the first half, the institution had profit of R$ 12.2 billion (US$ 7.2 billion). In the six following months, the profit reached R$ 11.3 billion (US$ 6.6 billion). The result could have been greater if the bank had not had such expenses with management of the country’s international reserves, currently at over US$ 355 billion.
