São Paulo – Brazilian imports of chemical products amounted to USD 4.5 billion in July, a record high over the historical series, reported the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim). It was a 30.4% increase from June. In volume, purchases reached 4.5 million tonnes in July, up 19.2% from the previous month.
Year-to-date, Brazilian imports of chemical products stood at USD 24.9 billion, up 7.2% from a year ago. In volume, 25 million tonnes were purchased, a record high for the period. It was a 13.8% increase from a year ago. The hike was driven mainly by intermediaries for fertilizers.
