Porto Alegre – Representatives of a state-run Chinese food company, Chinatex, who are visiting southern Brazil at the moment, have announced interest in purchasing one million tons of genetically modified (GM) soybeans grown in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Last year China imported 1.4 million tons of Rio Grande do Sul soybeans. The president of Chinatex, Wang Jinli, declared that in the near future purchases of Rio Grande do Sul soybeans could reach 2 million tons because his company is very satisfied with the quality.
