São Paulo – The Ministry of Agriculture of China plans to send a delegation of Chinese businessmen to the cerrado, the Brazilian savannah, next year. According to agronomist Keming Qian, director general for agricultural trade at the Chinese Ministry, who visited Embrapa Cerrados yesterday (12), he plans to collect information about technologies employed in Brazilian agriculture. Embrapa Cerrados is the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation department specialized in the region.
"China has great expanses, but limited natural resources. And Chinese companies are greatly interested in agriculture," pointed out Keming during a meeting with Roberto Teixeira Alves, head of Embrapa Cerrados, and Gilberto Leite, head of business communication. Keming pointed out that the opportunity of visiting an Embrapa research centre for the first time is very important to identify areas of interest for future investment.
