Brasília – The Brazilian civil construction industry recorded strong growth in August, the seventh consecutive month of expansion. A survey disclosed today (27th) by the National Confederation of Industries shows that the level of activity in the industry reached 56 points last month, on a scale of zero to 100.
Medium and small companies recorded the most growth, at 57 and 58.9 points, respectively. In the previous survey, in July, there was growth of 54.8 and 57.4 points using the same basis of comparison. The indicator that points out how ‘hot’ the industry is totalled 55 points. With regard to small companies, the indicator has dropped from 52.4 points in July to 51.7 points last month.
The CNI also informed that expectations for the next six months are good. The indicator of increased level of activity reached 65.3 points. The new ventures and services indicator recorded 63.1 points, and the indicator for purchases of inputs and raw material totalled 64.2 points.
From July and August, the activity level indicator for building construction went from 54.7 to 55.1 points; for infrastructure works, from 53.5 to 53.9 points; and for specialized services, from 53 to 53.4 points.
