São Paulo – Brazil exported 2,539,127 bags of coffee in November, a reduction of 13.7% compared with the same period of last year, according to information released today (7th) by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé). In November, revenues totalled US$ 382 million.
In the year-to-date result ended November, however, foreign sales grew 6% and totalled 27,715,817 bags, as against 26,251,879 bags shipped from January to November 2008. The Arabica variety of coffee accounted for 87% of exports in 2009, followed by the soluble variety, with 9%, and by the Robusta variety, with 4%.
The leading destinations for the product this year were Europe (56%), North America (22%), Asia (17%) and South America (4%). In terms of countries, the leading markets were Germany, the United States, Italy, Japan and Belgium.
