São Paulo – Brazil should produce 42.15 million 60-kilo bags of processed Arabica and Conilon coffee in 2015. The volume is 7% smaller than in 2014. The numbers are from a survey released this Tuesday (29th) by the National Supply Company (Conab). Coffee has a two-year cycle, with high output in one year and low output in the next. This year is the low-output year, hence the decline.
Coffee of the Arabica variety accounts for 74.2% of total output in the country. In the ongoing crop, 31.3 million bags are expected to be harvested, down 3.1% from last year. Conilon coffee output is expected to reach 10.9 million bags, down 16.7% from 2014.
