São Paulo – AE Negócios Internacionais will export cashew nuts to the Middle East. In a few weeks, the company from Natal, Brazil, may ship a container with the product to Kuwait and will receive an importer from the United Arab Emirates in March to negotiate even more cashew nuts, according to information by one of the partners Amanda Lopes (picture above). The deal with Kuwait is almost closed.
AE Negócios Internacionais is a reseller company focused on the foreign food and beverage market. Owned by Amanda Lopes and Cibelle Bastos, it intermediates exporting deals of products from the Northeastern Brazil, such as tapioca, cashew nuts, cajuína (cashew juice), whole fruits, açaí, and others. The goal is to take food and beverages from Rio Grande do Norte and the neighboring states abroad.
The doors of the Arab market started being opened recently, after AE Negócios Internacionais participated in December last year as an exhibitor in SIAL Middle East, food show in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In addition to its first sale to Kuwait, mentioned above, and the scheduled visit from an Emirate trading company to Brazil, after SIAL AE hired someone to promote tapioca and açaí to importers in the UAE.
This was the first time of the company as an exhibitor in a show in an Arab country. AE was in SIAL Middle East in the space organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. Amanda says the conversations in Abu Dhabi revealed a great demand for cashew nuts and similars in the region due to the high local consumption. According to her, the Arabs purchase the product from Vietnam and Africa, but Brazilian cashew nut has more quality, so there is a demand even with a higher price.
Açaí and tapioca, however, need diffusion in the Arab market, according to the businesswoman. “Some products we work with, such as tapioca and açaí, are new to them, and it is necessary to promote marketing actions,” states Lopes. In SIAL, besides hiring a person to announce in the UAE, AE closed a sale of tapioca and açaí to India, and the importer was committed to announce the products in its country.
AE Negócios Internacionais sells tapioca starch but also tapioca express, in discs ready for consumption, needing only some time in the microwave to be served. The product by Da Terra was shortlisted in the SIAL Innovation award of SIAL Middle East. Lopes says they pretend to exhibit again in the Abu Dhabi show.
The foods sold by the Brazilian company were also presented by an associate exhibitor in Gulfood, food show that occurred this February in Dubai, UAE. According to Amanda, there was some interest from an importer to purchase the cajuína sold by AE.
AE Negócios Internacionais was founded in 2015 and exports mainly to Europe and Asia.
Lopes is graduated in International relations, post-graduated in business administration by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and has worked for five years with foreign trade before opening AE. Her partner Bastos is graduated in financial management and has more than 15 year of experience in the foreign trade sector.
