São Paulo – With the purchase of a new factory and the greater production capacity, the target of company Amacoco – Água de Coco da Amazônia – for this year is to start exporting industrialize coconut water to the Arab market. For this reason, the company export manager, Adriana Valente, should participate in the Gulfood, a food sector fair, to take place in Dubai, between the 23rd and 26th.
"We have been receiving several proposals to export to the region," said the manager, who already has meetings scheduled with two distributors in the United Arab Emirates. Last year, Amacoco went on a strategic mission to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to prospect the market. "The interest in our product was high," said Adriana.
According to her, the company participation in the Gulfood was part of the company strategy to open new markets. "We know that the fair has good return, so we decided to participate," added Adriana, who should present brands Kero Coco and Trop Coco at the fair.
Company exports began three years ago and in this period Amacoco has already won markets like the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, China, countries in Africa, Europe and Latin America. According to Adriana, the company has been investing much in expansion of the production capacity and for the last six months, with expansion of the factory in Espírito Santo, Amacoco has been ready to supply new markets. "The growth of the product on the foreign market has been very fast. Acceptance is very positive," he said.
Apart from the factory in Espírito Santo, the company has another two production units, in Greater Belém, in Pará, and another in Pernambuco. In Pará, where the first unit was built, the factory is located close to the main coconut plantation in Brazil. With 800,000 coconut palms in the region, it is possible to produce approximately 300,000 coconuts a day. The region, which is part of the Amazon Basin, is turned exclusively to production of the fruit.
According to Adriana, the hot and dry climate of the Arab countries is a positive factor for the sale of coconut water on that market. "Apart from that, coconut water is a powerful natural hydrating drink," he said. Before the fair, Adriana is going to participate in event Flavours from Brazil, promoted by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), to bring together Arab and Brazilian businessmen in the food sector in Dubai.
In Brazil, the Kero Coco brand, which has been on the market for over 13 years, is present in several fast-food networks and restaurants. According to Adriana, the brand is the leader in the Brazilian market.
