Brasília – A week after the approval by the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), the Investment Partnerships Program Council (CPPI) approved the conditions for the concession of the Port of Santos on the São Paulo coast. The project will now be submitted to the Tribunal de Contas da União (Federal Audit Court, often referred to as TCU), which may suggest changes.
According to the conditions approved, the Port of Santos will be privatized for 35 years, with the option of extending it for an additional five years. The winner of the bidding process will pay BRL 3.015 billion (USD 583.282 million) plus the fees of the auction, which has no set date. Furthermore, they will pay 28 installments of BRL 105 million (USD 20 million) each between the 8th and the 35th year of concession plus 20% of the consolidated gross operating revenue every year.
The CPPI also established the minimum obligations that the winning bidder will have to perform. The operator will be responsible for dredging and skidding works on the waterway access; expanding and modernizing road access to the Port of Santos; implementing, operating and exploiting the dry link between Santos and Guarujá; and maintaining the Itatinga Complex operations.

At the same meeting on the Port of Santos, the inclusion of the Dock Company of Rio de Janeiro and Pará in the National Privatization Program (PND), The Rio de Janeiro company manages the ports of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, Itaguaí, and Angra dos Reis. The company in Pará controls the ports of Belém, Vila do Conde, and Santarém.
The CPPI also approved the postponement of the rebidding of the Viracopos Airport in Campinas, São Paulo, and São Gonçalo do Amarante, Rio Grande do Norte. The inclusion of the Asset Management Company (EMGEA) in the National Privatization Company was also approved.
