São Paulo – The United Nations (UN) said that international contributors committed to transfer US$ 3.8 billion in humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. The donations were announced during the conference to collect funds to the victims of the civil war in the country, held in Kuwait last Tuesday (31st). The resources will go to UN’s and its partners.
Kuwait promoted an event of this type for the third straight year. Last year, the donating countries collected U$ 2.4 billion, with US$ 2 billion being allocated until March of this year. The conflict in Syria is already four years old and resulted in the death of more than 220,000 people.
