São Paulo – The tourism consultancy firm T4 is in touch with enterprises and government organizations based in Arab countries that are interested in attracting Brazilians to their respective countries. The contacts were masde during the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur), held from January 19th to 23rd in the capital of Spain.
"Five different companies attended that were based in Dubai alone," says Daniela Toyoshima, one of the partners of T4. Aside from the companies based in the United Arab Emirates, the businesswoman also made contact with representatives of Jordanian, Syrian, Libyan and Kuwaiti government organizations for tourism.
"Destinations that are more on the exotic side are a trend," says the businesswoman, explaining that the Arab countries should attract the tourists who have already travelled to more traditional destinations. "We believe people will start to diversify their destinations. These are tourists who already know Europe, the United States, Latin America, and who will want more diversified products. Besides, there is also the middle class, who are starting to travel [abroad] now," she claims.
Daniela believes she should do business with the Emirates-based companies this year. "Dubai is getting structured to receive Brazilian tourists, with Portuguese-speaking guides and better prepared receptive companies (which organize tours of the cities)," she says. Negotiations with tourism organizations in the other countries should take longer. She also claims that events should be held so that tourism companies in the Arab countries may get to know their Brazilian counterparts.
According to Daniela, T4 attracted the interest of Arabs because it has knowledge of the Brazilian tourism industry, as the company operates in the fields of planning, management, assessment, representation, qualification and training to hotels, travel agencies and receptive tourism. The consultancy firm’s activities include, for instance, demand surveys for the elaboration of tourism campaigns and formatting of products, such as tours and services.
The company currently has 14 employees and deals with Brazilian clients only, such as the city halls of the cities of Paraty, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Pindamonhangaba, Guarulhos and Ilhabela, in the state of São Paulo, for instance. During the Fitur, Daniela also made contact with businessmen based in Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
