Rio de Janeiro – The Consumer Confidence Survey, conducted by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), declined 5.8 points in December and reached 73.3 points on a scale of zero to 200. This is the index lowest level since June of this year.
Consumer satisfaction with the current scenario, as measured by the Current Situation Index, dropped 3.8 points and reached 64.1 points, the lowest level ever registered by FGV. Meanwhile, the Expectations Index, which measures confidence in the future, fell 6.9 points and reached 80.8 points.
The factor that contributed the most for the decline of the Consumer Confidence Index in December of this year is the one that measures optimism in regard to the financial situation of households in the future, with a drop of 7.7 points.
