Brasília – The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) reported this Friday (7) that the National Consumer Confidence Index (Inec) reached 103.1 points in September, a 1.1% increase over August. In the comparison with September 2015, it climbed even more at 7.1%. However, the Inec is still below the historical average of 108.9 points.
Improvement in expectations regarding inflation and unemployment rates contributed to the index increasing. For Marcelo Azevedo, an economist at CNI, despite the improvement in expectations, there’s still a great concern over unemployment and inflation. He believes, however, that if confidence, the financial scenario and indebtedness continue to improve, consumption will increase in the next few months.
