São Paulo – Casa do Saber (Portuguese for the House of Knowledge) is accepting enrolments for the course abriu as inscrições para o curso Oriente Médio: Cultura, Política e Sociedade (Middle East: Culture, Politics and Society). The classes will take place from January 16 to March 6, every Wednesday, at the Casa do Saber headquarters in São Paulo.
The course will tackle the region’s past and present, aspects of religion, culture and power, the conflict between Jews and Arabs, the Palestinian issue, and the Arab Spring in Egypt. Casa do Saber is a centre for debate and knowledge spreading.
The classes will be taught by the historian Sidney Ferreira Leite, the holder of a degree from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a postdoctoral degree in Communication from Universidade Metodista. Leite is the academic vice-president of Centro Universitário Belas Artes and a professor in Middle East Studies in the International Relations courses of Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) and Belas Artes.
