São Paulo – Cairo, the temples of Luxor, archaeological complex Abu Simbel and a cruise on the Nile, are some of the points to be included in the route of a cultural visit to Ancient Egypt. "This is an immersion trip into the world of ancient Egypt. Not just a common tourism trip, but a true course on site about the civilization of ancient Egypt," said Marcos de Carvalho Geribello, a specialist in Egyptian history who will give an open lesson on the matter on Wednesday (12), at Casa do Saber, in São Paulo.
At the meeting, according to Geribello, topics covered should include the history and mysteries of the ancient Egyptian civilization, as well as specific information about the route, climate and price of the trip, to take place between the 5th and 19th of November. "The objective is for participants to end the trip with specific knowledge and sensorial experiences regarding Egypt and its history that they would not get just from a tourist trip and from a regular classroom course," he said.
According to the specialist, one of the specific meetings should be in Luxor, where those participating should have a lesson with one of the main archaeologists researching the area. "In some of these points we should visit sites that are out of the common tourist route, like the pyramids in the Saqqara complex, the Mastaba of Mereruka, the temples of Dendera and Abydos, among others," he said.
According to Geribello, anybody interested in the trip may participate in the open lesson at Casa do Saber, where they may meet a representative of travel promoter Latitudes. "But the number is limited and the spaces end quickly," said the professor.
