São Paulo – The government of Denmark and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Unrwa) signed, on Thursday (20), a memorandum of understanding to increase the European country’s contribution to the UN agency.
Danish contributions should be expanded from US$ 12.5 million to approximately US$ 16.1 million a year. The agreement has also established funds of US$ 2.4 million to be disbursed by Denmark for continued improvement of Unrwa activities in health, education and organisational development services.
Denmark is among the ten main Unrwa donors. On the 16th, the country disbursed additional funds of US$ 1 million for assistance of Palestinian refugees who are affected by the conflict in Syria.
