Brasília – The US dollar closed up for the third straight day this Tuesday (15). It climbed 0.9% to BRL 3.661, the highest price since April 7, 2016. Ibovespa, the main index of the São Paulo Stock Exchange, closed down 0.12% to 85,130 points.
The dollar went up despite the fact that the Brazilian Central Bank took action on the foreign exchange market. Brazil’s Finance minister Eduardo Guardia said the hike of the dollar over the past few days is in line with an international trend, and that the US currency got stronger across all emerging countries. “Brazil is not immune to this,” said Guardia.
