São Paulo – Rotana Jet, an airline headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, is running domestic flights with aircraft produced by the Brazilian Embraer. This week the company inaugurated its first regular route between Abu Dhabi International Airport, the country capital, and the emirate of Fujairah, on the west coast of the country.
According to information disclosed by the local news agency WAM and by the airline itself, the two way trips take place twice a day, once in the morning and once in the early evening.
Still this month, Rotana Jet plans to inaugurate a flight to the city of Al Ain, in the interior of Abu Dhabi. The company should also have regular flights to the emirates of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. The frequency will also be twice a day (two round trips).
The company already operated flights to Dalma and Sir Bani Yas islands, on the coast of the country, but just three times a week from Al Bateen airport, also in Abu Dhabi, but turned to executive aviation. Operation at Abu Dhabi International Airport simplifies connections with international flights, according to the airline, and Rotana Jet is already eyeing this area, as well as domestic flights.
The model of aircraft turned to these routes is the ERJ 145, a regional jet made by Embraer with a capacity for 50 passengers. The company has two aircraft of the model that are used in commercial routes. It also flies the North American Gulfstream G450 in executive aviation.
Established in 2010, in June this year, Rotana Jet became the first local company to offer regular domestic flights. The fact that it is still the only airline operating in the sector is not surprising, due to the size of the country. The other commercial airlines of the Emirates, Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and Fly Dubai, for instance, only operate on international routes.
