São Paulo – In 2015, Dubai International Airport received the record number of 78.014 million passengers, an increase of 10.7% over 2014 results. According to data from the period released this Monday (1) by managing company Dubai Airports, the hike was driven by the growth of activities of the companies operating there, especially the two local companies: Emirates Airline and flydubai, which operates budget flights.
India remained as the main destination of passengers that went through the terminal. In all, 10.3 million travellers flew to the South-East Asia country. In second place came the United Kingdom, the destination for 5.6 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia, which received 5.4 million passengers coming from Dubai International Airport.
The terminal also registered an increase in aircraft movement, which included takeoffs and landings. Throughout 2015, there were 403,500 movements, or 14.1% more than in 2014.
